July 8-15 - Lighthouse Lodge Louisiana Fishing Trip
Now that the 4th of July is behind us, we are looking forward to the rest of the Summer and the great fishing action that is sure to be coming in the next several months. Inshore, the fishing for redfish and speckled trout has been good, particularly those who know the advantages of geeting up early and out on the water before the sun gets up high over head and starts heating things up. This past week, limits of keeper red have been coming to the dock on a regular basis, and with the Mississippi River levels dropping, this shold continue as the fish are starting to gang up in more and more places. Speckled trout action slowed a little this past week now that we are on the down side of the new moon, but nice boxes of fish have been caught by those who dont mind working for them. The exception has been for those lucky enough to find birds working in the outer bays, but you might have to weed through a buinch of small fish to get to the keepers. The real star of the inside waters are the big bull redfish that roam the coasts feeding on big schools of baitfish. This is about as sure a thing as you can get this time of year if you want some quick line stripping action. Offshore, Tuna, Swordfish, and Snapper catches have been strong, with some Cobia being caught as well. The daytime swordfishing has really taken off the last few years as the captains working out of Venice have really worked to dial that fishery in. its not too late to book your room at the Lighthouse Lodge and get in on this great Summer action before the kids head back to school. If you would like to talk about the fishing and/or which type of trip is right for you.
